ABOUT US

Soroptimist International of South Delta is part of a global volunteer movement committed to improving the lives of women and girls through education, empowerment, and expanded opportunities.

The word 'Soroptimist' comes from Latin origins: soror — sister; optima — best. Together, the meaning reflects our purpose: “the best for women.” It captures our commitment to striving for the highest good for women and girls everywhere.

Officially chartered on August 1, 2025, our Club is also a registered society in British Columbia.
We are dedicated to building a strong, sustainable presence in our community while contributing
to the broader mission of Soroptimist International.

We meet on the second Wednesday of every month, offering a warm and exclusive space for members to learn, collaborate, and engage in meaningful projects and initiatives. While our work is mission-driven, we also value connection, fun, and creating a supportive environment, where every member feels seen and appreciated.

Providing women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.

OUR VISION

Women and girls have the resources and opportunities to reach their full potential and live their dreams.

OUR  CORE VALUES

Diversity & Fellowship

Women from varied backgrounds and perspectives work together to improve the lives of women and girls.

Education

Women and girls deserve to lead full and productive lives through access to education.

Empowerment

Women and girls are free to act in their own best interest.

Gender Equality

Women and girls live  free from discrimination.

WHAT WE DO

We work toward improving the lives of women and girls

How do we do that? Through Soroptimist Dream Programs:  DREAM IT, BE IT and LIVE YOUR DREAM. These programs ensure women and girls have access to the education and training they need to reach their full potential and live their dreams. Soroptimist International of South Delta is committed to investing in programs that have a sustainable, measurable impact on the lives of women and girls who live in the South Delta area.

Our community initiatives are designed to create meaningful change by addressing local needs through collaboration, compassion, and action.

DREAM PROGRAMS

Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls® empowers young women to build the confidence, skills, and knowledge they need to pursue their future careers and lead fulfilling lives. While all young women face gender‑based barriers, this program places a special focus on those experiencing additional challenges such as racism, poverty, foster care, or teen motherhood.

Soroptimist clubs partner directly with female-identifying youth in small groups or conference-style settings, creating safe, supportive spaces where they can explore their strengths and access the resources they need to succeed. By reaching girls early, we help them stay healthy and safe today—and reduce the number of women facing crisis in the future.

Our Dream It Be It Career Fair will be held on March 7, 2026 at Tsawwassen Mills.

Soroptimist's Live Your Dream Awards program is a unique education award for women who provide the primary financial support for their families. The Live Your Dream Awards give women the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects.

Over half of our Live Your Dream Awards recipients are survivors of domestic violence, trafficking or sexual assault. Nearly all of the women and families we serve have overcome enormous obstacles including racism, poverty, teen pregnancy, and substance use disorder.

Live Your Dream Awards recipients may use the cash award to offset any costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education, such as books, childcare, tuition and transportation. This unique program is helping women find their voice and purpose while offering the resources they need to succeed.

Applications are accepted from August 1st to November 15th each year.
